Electric Coffin

Art duo Electric Coffin displays handprinted mural nestled near the foot of the Space Needle.

This massive mural spans across the loading dock of South Lake Union’s 333 Dexter building. The commission is completely hand-painted with elements of Electric Coffin and Seattle iconography. The piece is discoverable at macro (“Bluest Skies” is viewable from across the busy highway) and micro (the painted pattern comes into view up close) perspectives. This crossroads of traffic and pedestrian viewership was an important opportunity to consider. The artwork is nestled near the foot of the space needle, and is the last thing southbound drivers see before entering the Aurora tunnel, which spans the length of Seattle. The “Bluest Skies” text is from the Perry Como lyric “The bluest skies you’ve ever seen are in Seattle.”
