Interior Design Magazine's February 2017 cover article features Kilroy's Pacific Northwest property, Key Center highlighting SKB Architects' lively lobby design.
Acquired in 2011, Key Center is a 23-story office property in Bellevue, Washington. Kilroy invested in building upgrades to transform the common areas into a space for people. The redesigned lobby no longer is just a pass through place, but a space to touchdown, to use as an extension for working, to eat, to relax.
With 8,100 square feet of space, Shannon Gaffney, Principal of SKB recounts, “We had enough room to create multiple zones, for instance social/working spaces as extensions of the offices upstairs.” Pairs of blue wing chairs create a tête-à-tête scenario, and the wide passageway that connects to the elevators features more conversation-style seating. Finishing the space are charcoal grey sectionals, stained oak tables and a dreamy ceiling, brought to life with fluorescent fixtures and a swirling, spray-painted "wall tattoo."
Congratulations to SKB and all involved in the feature!
